A Jam-Packed Summer

We’ve had a summer full to the brim with hospitality catering at events all around the country. Have a read about some of our favourites!

The story of our summer...

Though best-known for catering events in many of the Unique Venues of London, Moving Venue also deliver many hospitality events across the summer. As part of the Smart Group, perhaps our defining moment for hospitality catering was the 2012 London Olympics. Over 17 days of Olympic competition, many of our team under our then brand Smart Hospitality delivered a superb and comprehensive catering offer to over 65,000 guests, working with 11 official suppliers and sponsors to fulfil their bespoke requirements within their own hospitality suites.

This year’s summer of hospitality has felt particularly special. Not only because it’s the 10-year anniversary of the London Olympics but also because it has been the first complete ‘summer run’ since the pandemic. From sporting to music events, airshows, and everything in between, we have enjoyed the full throttle return to large scale hospitality with full crowds and glorious weather to accompany it. We are phenomenally proud of the entire team who have delivered these exceptional events.

Royal Ascot

A fixture in our calendar for many years, Royal Ascot often marks the start of the Summer for us! As guests descend on Ascot racecourse in their finery, and the very best racehorses and jockeys prepare to race in front of one of the biggest racing crowds in the world, our chefs prepare to flex their culinary skills. It’s a chance to showcase the very best of classic British produce in inventive and creative ways for thousands of hungry race-goers.

Moving Venue cater both the Village Enclosure and Villiers Club. Within the Village Enclosure, we cater for up to 800 guests a day across a whole week offering a three-course lunch followed by an innovative afternoon tea. The Villiers Club offers a more informal experience, for approximately 850 guests a day, we provide a variety of interactive food stations, afternoon tea and an evening barbeque. This truly is one of our favourite events each year!

Hampton Court Palace Festival

Throughout June, the team were at Hampton Court Palace Festival, providing the luxury hospitality catering for guests attending a whole host of intimate concerts with legendary music acts such as Alfie Boe, Michael Ball, McFly, Elbow, UB40 and Ministry of Sound to name a few. The sun shone and the palace provided an incredible setting for guests to ‘dine like Kings and Queens’. This was the second year for us catering this special event and our team thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lord's Cricket Ground

This prestigious cricket ground in north-west London plays host to many key international fixtures throughout the year, and it truly is an honour to be on hand at all of them providing exceptional all-day hospitality and service in the premium restaurants at the grounds.

We cater for up to 900 guests each match day in the Nursery Pavilion for test matches and One Day Internationals. Open from breakfast through to afternoon tea, with plenty of Pimm’s and lager alongside, we tailor the menu to the teams playing on particular days.

Silverstone

For the second year, Moving Venue catered a particularly electric race weekend at The British Grand Prix at Silverstone. With views across six corners including Copse (those of you that follow F1 might remember the infamous Verstappen-Hamilton crash at this corner last year!), the Ignition Club, Racing Green and track-side areas were all catered by our brigade of dedicated chefs, waiting staff and back of house teams. We served over 6,000 guests over the three days, which included breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Guests enjoying the hospitality in Racing Green were treated to an eclectic mix of food trucks.

A little over a month after the British Grand Prix, we were back at Silverstone delivering the catering at Moto GP. We had 450 guests a day, enjoying a variety of breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea.

Farnborough Airshow

Next up, a firm fixture in our annual calendar – Farnborough Airshow – which we have catered at for over two decades. Taking up it’s spot at Farnborough Airfield, the team catered for guests across eight different chalets. An event which takes incredible logistical skill and operational capacity, which we have been able to refine over the past two decades, has now become something we are renowned for.

From all day hospitality to wine tastings, intimate dinners and receptions, all with exceptional client feedback, this can be chalked up as a great success and one of our best Airshows to date.

Longines Global Champions Tour

This exciting event is a new one in our summer calendar. Built on the forecourt of Royal Hospital, Chelsea, with the iconic building forming the backdrop to the main arena, the London leg of this prestigious tour allows show jumping enthusiasts to watch phenomenal athletes tackle one of the toughest Grand Prix show jumping tracks in the world, and battle to win huge prize-funds. Our catering spans across the VIP tent with all day dining, sponsors areas, stand catering, groom’s bars and crew meals – a huge logistical task but one we loved!

Concours of Elegance

To round off our Summer season, we provided the hospitality and catering for Concours of Elegance’s special 10th year anniversary show at the beginning of September. The show offers car-enthusiasts the opportunity to be up close and personal with the very best of British and international motor craft. The best cars in the world, and affiliated retailers, are on display here, from classics right up to modern day supercars (and even an F1 model)!

On top of providing fine dining to over 1,000 owners, sponsors and enthusiasts, our team can be found around the ground serving deliciously crisp champagne with a smile!
